Little Man, J, bursts into inconsolable crying with real, big tears. 

Me, thinking he hurt something: "J, what's wrong? What hurts?"

J, talking through tears, "I don't like my room."

Me: "um, ok. What don't you like about it?"

J: "The space."

Me: "The space?"

J: "I want to fill it in."

Me: "Um, what do you want to fill it in with?"

J: "with trucks."
